The second installment! Get your creativity going.
In this article, I’m going to deal with picture frame ideas that require a little bit more effort. It’s not that these are more intricate by any means, they just might need that you put your mind to it and take the time to correctly complete them. Without doing it 100% correctly, you may end up with a very ugly picture frame (just kidding)! Who knows though, you could end up with a impressive new idea…in that case let me know of your awesome new picture frame idea in a comment! All that aside, it’s time to get started. First thing is first you’re going to need at least 4 completely unique colors of paint, preferably in large paint buckets. For the first picture frame, you can use an 8 x 12 frame or smaller. Open the buckets of paint, and dip each side of the picture frame in to the various colors. When this is completed, you should have a frame with 4 unique-colored sides. At this juncture, hang up the picture frame by wire and let it drip-dry. Come back after a few hours and you should have a crazy looking frame with full-bodied color. The brilliant thing about this idea is you’re left with the dripping paint look, and the drips are draped over the others colors. Personally, I highly recommend hanging up the wet frame with the brighter colors on top so they can drip down and dry over top of darker colors. The 2nd idea also uses paint, but with a twist. Grab your paint brush and your favorite color, then paint the entire frame that single color. Once this first coat is permitted to dry, get your next-in-line favorite color and paint only the corner squares of the picture frame. Allow this to dry as well, then take the 3rd color and paint 4 lines directly in the middle of each frame side. With the 4th and last color of paint, put a small dot within the dried squares that you painted with your second favorite color. This will leave you with a very symmetrical design and will look more professional than our other projects. Experiment with this one to your liking, different blends of colors have different effects. Personally I like to use either all-dark colors (blues, blacks, and grays) or all vibrant colors (reds, yellows, and neon green) because they pop more. In the end, do whatever you want and I’m sure you’ll be happy with it. Good luck, and remember that each thing worth while takes times to create!
